Every action we do has its own responsibility. And being responsible will start within yourself, being educated and aware. Our environment now is suffering from degradation that is why our country are prone in natural disaster particularly the most common are floods, earthquake and typhoon. Human activity is the main cause of climate change, climate change is a long-term shift in weather conditions, changes in temperature, winds and others. We cannot force everyone to do the right thing to save our environment. But we, as a student we can start to do something to save our environment not because it was taught to us but because we are aware and we are concern what kind of environment we will have after a couple of year.
Education provides the learning that can help the people to be aware in attitudinal change about man’s relationship with his natural and man surrounding, it is also one of the key that may save our environment. Education can encourage the people to change their negative treatment in our environment. It is also an eye opener to everyone because in education they only tell the truth and we all have the same goals for our environment. People who gain knowledge in education to save our environment tend to be more concerned and aware about the environment. They can also engage and have an advocacy to promote and support political and social projects that protects our environment. Additionally, education can shaped the characteristics of everyone to be responsible enough to protect and save our environment.
The most common type of natural disaster in our country are Flood, Earthquake and Typhoon. Although we cannot stop it but we can prevent it. The most common cause of flood is dumping the garbage in stream, rivers and waterways and also cutting the trees. People nowadays are lack in responsibility; they will just throw the garbage anywhere they want. Act like they did not know that it is not allow to do that, throwing garbage in waterways may cause to overflow the water and start to flood especially in the low area of certain a place. And also cutting trees will affect us, prevent cutting the trees and start planting more trees because a wooded areas can slow down waters when rivers overflow. The second natural disaster is Earthquake, it is a sudden and violent shaking of the ground, sometimes causing great destruction, as a result of movements within the earth’s crust or volcanic action. We cannot stop earthquake and we cannot determine when earthquake will happen. But we can reduce the impact of it especially in our environment. Building safer structures that will prevent to harm people and also our nature, and providing education on earthquake safety. By preparing for natural earthquakes we can also reduce the risk from human induced earthquakes. Being aware can also save us and our nature from this disaster. And lastly the Typhoon, it can affect our environment by generating winds that may cause to our trees to breakdown and fall. Because when typhoon come the wind are stronger more than we know and it can affect the trees and the trees may affect other nature and structures. The main cause of why trees are easily breaking down is that they are only few trees who facing the stronger winds. That is why planting a lot of trees and taking care of it is important they are not just a tree who make our environment beautiful but also a protection for other nature and for us when disaster attack.
Being responsible, aware and concern are the characteristic that every people should have to save our environment. Education and TLE is a way for us to have an advocacy because as a student we are aware in every happenings in our environment and as a student we be should the one who pursue to have a better and safe environment for the present and for the future. As a simple start let’s have a tree planting project. Let’s start in our own home, then in our community. If we can do more let’s ask the government officials if can also have an opportunity to join them in planting trees on the mountain sides of our province. Another thing is we must have a campaign about proper waste disposal. Throwing garbage on stream, rivers and seas must be prohibited. Also the proper segregation of waste and garbage should be implemented strictly in all communities. Let’s start it in ourselves and in our home and community. Our little actions may result a big difference and a big help in our environment if we do it continuously. Little actions turn into a solution if we do it all, if those action out together will make a big change and save our environment. Saving environment, start within your self.
